Tab Sage

Overview

Tab Sage is a free, privacy-focused desktop web browser developed by Spyxpo. It includes a built-in on-device assistant that can summarize webpages, answer questions about the content being viewed, and extract important information without sending page content to an external AI service.

Browsing history, conversations, bookmarks, settings, and webpage context remain on the user’s device. After the required local model has been downloaded, supported assistant features can continue to work without an internet connection.

Tab Sage is designed for users who want greater control over their browsing experience, privacy, search preferences, webpage appearance, and locally processed assistance.

Webpage Summarization

Tab Sage can condense articles, documentation, reports, and other webpages into clear, easy-to-read summaries.

Context-Aware Questions

Users can ask questions about the webpage currently open in the browser and receive answers based on its content.

Key Information Extraction

Important details such as names, dates, statistics, links, deadlines, and other relevant facts can be identified and extracted from a webpage.

Local-First Privacy

Webpage content, browsing history, conversations, bookmarks, settings, and contextual information remain on the user’s device and are not routinely sent to an external processing service.

Offline Assistance

Once the required local model has been downloaded, supported summarization, question-answering, and information-extraction features can continue to function without an internet connection.

Custom Search Engines

Users can choose their preferred search provider or configure custom search engines for websites, documentation platforms, academic databases, company portals, and other searchable services.

Tab Sage provides a modern tabbed browsing experience with a visual overview for managing open pages.

Tab Search

Open tabs can be located quickly by searching their titles or URLs.

Built-In Advertisement and Tracker Blocking

An integrated blocker helps prevent common advertisements and tracking resources from loading. Blocking controls are available directly from the browser interface and can be temporarily disabled when required.

Element Cutout Tool

Users can hide unwanted parts of a webpage after it has loaded. This can include newsletter prompts, distracting sidebars, floating banners, oversized headers, recommendation panels, sticky elements, and other sections that interfere with reading.

Bookmark Management

Websites can be saved, organized, managed, and accessed through the browser’s built-in bookmark system.

Searchable Browsing History

Users can search, review, manage, or clear their browsing history whenever necessary.

Password Storage and Autofill

Passwords and payment details can be stored using the operating system’s secure credential-protection facilities and used for supported autofill functions.

Incognito Browsing

Private tabs can operate alongside regular tabs in the same browser window. Pages opened in private mode are not added to the standard browsing history.

Content Filtering

Tab Sage includes an NSFW content filter that can restrict access to adult websites and other selected categories.

Multi-Member Conversations

Tab Sage supports conversations with multiple configured assistant participants. Each participant can be assigned a different responsibility, such as summarizing content, extracting facts, reviewing claims, identifying weaknesses, or suggesting areas for further research.

Extension Support

Tab Sage provides an extension ecosystem that allows developers to create tools that interact with approved browser features.

Extensions may request permission to access capabilities such as:

Each permission must be declared by the extension. Features that have not been requested are not made available to it.

Publicly Reviewable Extensions

Although the main Tab Sage browser is not open source, its official extension repository is publicly available.

Users can review the source code of listed extensions before installing them. The repository also provides reference extensions, development utilities, documentation, and reusable resources for extension developers.

Extension Interface Kit

Tab Sage provides an open interface kit with reusable components designed to match the browser’s appearance.

Available components include buttons, input fields, cards, switches, menus, toolbar popups, launchers, modals, and notifications.

Device Benchmark

The browser includes a hardware benchmark that checks whether a computer can comfortably support its on-device assistant features.

The benchmark is available during initial setup and can also be run later from the browser settings. Users with lower-capability devices are informed before downloading the required local model.

Theme Support

Tab Sage supports light and dark themes and can automatically follow the operating system’s appearance settings.

No Usage Telemetry

Tab Sage does not collect, track, or transmit browser usage telemetry. Browsing activity, conversations, feature usage, and page context are not used to create a separate stream of behavioral analytics.

Availability

Tab Sage is designed exclusively for desktop operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.

It is not available for mobile platforms such as iOS or Android.

Tab Sage is built around privacy, local processing, and user control.

Users can choose their preferred search engine, manage advertisement blocking, remove unwanted webpage elements, organize browsing data, review extension source code, and use page-aware assistance without routinely sending webpage content to a cloud-based service.
