EasyEDA PCB Design Intern

Electronics and Hardware EngineeringRemoteInternship

Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic EasyEDA PCB Design Intern to support our electronics and hardware development projects. This remote internship offers practical experience in circuit schematic creation, component selection, multilayer PCB layout, design verification, and manufacturing-file preparation.

The intern will work closely with the engineering team to develop reliable and production-ready four-layer printed circuit boards. This opportunity is suitable for students, recent graduates, and electronics enthusiasts who want to strengthen their practical PCB design skills while contributing to real engineering projects.

Description

The EasyEDA PCB Design Intern will be responsible for converting circuit requirements into accurate schematics and well-structured PCB layouts. The role will involve designing four-layer boards, selecting suitable components and footprints, planning the PCB stack-up, routing signals, and preparing files for manufacturing and assembly.

The intern will also review designs for electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing issues. Regular communication with the engineering team will be required to discuss design decisions, receive feedback, implement revisions, and report project progress.

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate and clearly organized circuit schematics using EasyEDA.
  • Design four-layer PCB layouts according to project and manufacturing requirements.
  • Plan suitable layer arrangements for signals, power, and ground.
  • Select appropriate electronic components, packages, symbols, and footprints.
  • Place components logically to improve performance, accessibility, and manufacturability.
  • Route analogue, digital, power, and communication signals effectively.
  • Create ground planes, power planes, copper pours, thermal reliefs, and stitching vias.
  • Apply suitable trace widths, spacing, clearances, and via dimensions.
  • Follow good grounding, decoupling, filtering, and noise-reduction practices.
  • Perform Electrical Rule Checks and Design Rule Checks.
  • Review PCB layouts for signal-integrity, power-integrity, and thermal concerns.
  • Verify schematic connections and PCB net assignments before manufacturing.
  • Create or modify custom schematic symbols and PCB footprints when required.
  • Generate Gerber files, drill files, Bills of Materials, pick-and-place files, and assembly documents.
  • Maintain organized project files, component libraries, and design documentation.
  • Make design changes based on engineering reviews and testing feedback.
  • Participate in remote meetings and provide regular progress updates.
  • Assist with troubleshooting PCB design and hardware-development issues.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits and PCB design principles.
  • Familiarity with EasyEDA or another electronic design automation platform.
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams, component datasheets, and reference designs.
  • Knowledge of common electronic components and their functions.
  • Basic understanding of traces, pads, vias, copper pours, ground planes, and PCB layers.
  • Awareness of schematic capture and PCB-layout workflows.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and engineering standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to review designs carefully.
  • Good written communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
  • Access to a reliable computer and internet connection.

Preferred skills

  • Previous experience designing two-layer or four-layer PCBs using EasyEDA.
  • Understanding of multilayer PCB stack-up planning.
  • Familiarity with analogue and digital circuit design.
  • Knowledge of power-supply circuits, voltage regulators, filters, and protection components.
  • Understanding of decoupling, grounding, shielding, and electromagnetic interference reduction.
  • Familiarity with differential pairs, impedance-controlled routing, and signal-length matching.
  • Experience working with microcontrollers such as ESP32, STM32, AVR, or Arduino-compatible devices.
  • Knowledge of communication interfaces such as UART, I²C, SPI, USB, CAN, or RS-485.
  • Experience creating custom component symbols and footprints.
  • Basic knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and Design for Testing.
